Modus Operanic

The Maelstrom EP

Released December 8 2007

The Maelstrom EP, albeit small, was a very ambitious project. I strived to get all songs as best as they possibly could be to make the most out of the release. The philosophy behind this album was to utilize multiple demos and rethinking of a track to make it even more solid.

Yes, believe it or not, previous songs (on average) did not have a lot of extra editing done to it after the first time around. Many songs were done in one sitting, a few were done over a couple days or a week, and a few more had several demos/variations before the final product. I mostly haven't been satisfied with the results of this (obviously) and giving it a second look helps flaws become more apparent and inspiration comes better. The Maelstrom EP can be argued to be some of the best music from Modus Operanic, and makes it fitting to leave on a high note.

The songs are themed around a large storm or hurricane hitting a coastal city, and its events and effects.
