Still valid old news: The Air Castles' second album is a little more than halfway through production at this point.
All songs have been written and have changed hands over to Nathan for post production. Everything will hopefully be
finished before the end of the year, which includes the Modus Operanic album Sorry, Doc. which will be released
simultaneously. Also, As you can see, I gave this page a much needed simple makeover. The small boxes being small was pointless and
didn't utilize the space well. Albums are now listed in reverse chronological order, because the newer ones are better.
About The Air Castles
The Air Castles is the electronic duo of myself and Nathan Rich of
Sleep Eat Music. The debut album, Transoceanic, consists of mostly remixes of
Maelstrom EP tracks into completely new songs, and also includes an outtake during the making
of the EP and an original guitar composition I recorded. The second album uses the same production technique, taking songs I created
and mastering them into the improved finished product.
Second TAC Album (as-of-yet untitled)
To be released Late 2008
Recorded: Jan - Oct 08

The forthcoming album from The Air Castles, currently in post-production stages. Release date is uncertain.
It promises to deliver a very worthy follow-up to last year's album, being both longer and with a wider range
of song types.
Released: December 28 2007
Recorded: Feb - Dec 07
Length: 19:27, 7 tracks
Transoceanic is The Air Castles' debut, and represents the culmination of both my prowess of melody creation
and Nathan's refining, mixing and mastering skill. It reflects an oceanic theme somewhat similar to
The Maelstrom EP, many tracks of which were used as a starting point and were mastered & remixed by Rich. It sets the
standard for future albums, as the process of song creation and completion will be similar.
About Modus Operanic
Modus Operanic is my solo music project. All of the music is created in FL Studio and falls under
the electronica genre. I started in the summer of 2005, later in the year releasing Acid Rain. After the release
of The Maelstrom EP I decided that I would dedicate my future songwriting efforts to The Air Castles, but
collections of chosen song demos I create in said sessions will continue to be released on future albums.
To be released Late 2008
Recorded: Jan - Oct 08
Length: ??:??, ? tracks
Sorry, Doc., title taken from a line spoken by Martin Keamy, a character on the TV show Lost, is
essentially a collection of demos created to be used for the second Air Castles album. Said demos are either songs
I personally like as they are in addition to how they are different on the actual album, or were cut from the
album entirely. This album will be released as the same time as the TAC album is complete and ready.
Released: November 3 2008
Recorded: Oct - Nov 08
Length: 13:46, 3 tracks
The idea for Lost EP came to me when I realized I had two songs with the word "lost" in the title, since it is
a common theme in several of my songs to begin with. I decided an EP with lost-titled songs was in order, and I made a
new one to fill the empty space. It's short but sweet, and gives "Lost in Dreams", a song I loved in theory but didn't quite
execute the way I wanted, a nice facelift, complete with real guitar.
Released: December 8 2007
Recorded: Feb - Dec 07
Length: 20:48, 6 tracks
The philosophy behind The Maelstrom EP was to utilize multiple demos and rethinking of a track to make it even more solid,
as songs on previous albums didn't see much more than one or two demos apiece (if any) before it was finalized. The songs
are themed around a large storm or hurricane hitting a coastal city, and its events and effects.
Râr (pronunciation of "rare") is a collection of worthwhile, previously unreleased rarities and B-Sides. It ranges from pre-Modus
era with "Tile Floor" and "Seethe", all the way up to an Instrumental version of the Taciturn Subterranean track, "The Aphotic Enigma".
The album art is of a water lily in a pond full of lily pads, which is seemingly a rarity in nature and is representative of the theme
of the album.
Released: February 13 2007
Recorded: Oct 06 - Feb 07
Length: 54:57, 13 tracks
Taciturn Subterranean (meaning "silent underground", or a quiet place under the surface of the earth), is the third LP album.
The title is well representative of the general theme of the album, with many darker, more ambient tracks when compared to other albums.
Many of the songs have a distinctive cave-like atmosphere, with a balance of dark and upbeat songs.
Released: August 23 2006
Recorded: Jun - Aug 06
Length: 55:31, 12 tracks
Stolen Memories is the second LP, taking a mostly ambient approach to the songs, with longer track times overall, better
production and catchier melodies than ECL as a whole. The songs begin to strive away from the dance/techno structure of ECL tracks
for a more structured, sectional approach.
Released: July 11 2006
Recorded: Dec 05 - May 06
Length: 19:33, 5 tracks
The Burn The Dark EP is a companion EP to Exploding City Lights, produced simultaneously with the LP album.
Includes remixes of songs (by Nathan Rich) appearing on the album, as well as two exclusive new tracks. Notably, "Perilous"
gets some added jam time.
Released: May 26 2006
Recorded: Dec 05 - May 06
Length: 49:52, 15 tracks
Exploding City Lights is Modus Operanic's debut album. It experiments with many styles and instruments and has a generally raw
techno sound. With 12 full-length songs, one 7+ minute sectional ambience and a short interlude and outro, ranging from the dance-oriented
to slower ballads, ECL keeps the experience changing from start to finish.
Released: November 12 2005
Recorded: Sep - Nov 05
Total time: 19:15, 5 tracks
Acid Rain was originally planned to be the debut LP for Modus Operanic, but with an early start on Exploding City Lights
came a style change, and thus work ceased completely on AR. Five of the six finished tracks now appear on this EP release. These songs
are very different from more current work, created with a focus on techno/dance music than having a more common song structure.
